Mary Tourtel Rupert Again First Edition 1940
Collecting Collectables has for sale Mary Tourtel Rupert Again, a wonderful and extremely rare wartime Rupert book from August 1940. In extremely (and extraordinary clean and well preserved condition) this is an absolute must for the Rupert and children’s illustrated book collector
The front board bears an illustration of Rupert standing under a tree talking to toy soldiers, policemen, goose, King and Wise Goat with the panoramic illustration being carried around the spine and back board
The boards are in Very Good condition with slight corner knocks; knocks to the top and bottom of the spine; and light marks. These are an extremely attractive set of boards
The pages are thick and unnumbered (unpaginated) with “This Rupert Book Belongs To” to the front pastedown NOT being filled in and left clean; and the Contents Page shows that this book contains five Rupert stories:
Rupert and Reynard Fox;
Rupert at School;
Rupert and the Magic Key;
Rupert in Dreamland; and
Father Christmas
Only one of the blank illustrations that Mary Tourtel left for children to colour in has been coloured in with crayon (and very neatly too!)
The pages are extremely clean and tightly bound-
This is a very rare Rupert book, and even rarer to be found in such immaculate condition – especially with no inscription from a loved one which is so typical with all these Rupert books. This is a ‘must have’ book for the Rupert and all children’s illustrated book collectors.
